Furniture Designer: Verner Panton (1926-1998)

Considered to be the most influential Danish furniture and interior designers of the 20th century.

Must be because this man had a lot of firsts.
-First to create inflatable furniture
-First to make a single molded stackable plastic chair
-First to make that thing above.

Man, and he also tried to convince people to make collapsible cardboard and plastic houses.  That didn't really catch, but still---that was innovation in 1955.

In the late 1960's and early 1970's, Panton moved into creating entire environments.
Fused by the psychedelics of the time, these puzzle pieces of curved upholstery created movement that almost defied gravity itself.

Panton believed that a set of furniture should interact within itself to create a kind of chair landscape, which refuses to be just functional.

Yes.
Somethings aren't always what they seem.
