Jane's Vintage Carousel

The 1922 carousel has a new home, Brooklyn Bridge Park ! The carousel was lovingly refurbished by Ms. Jane Walentas (seen in the first photo above in her studio) for the past 27 years. There's forty-eight hand carved horses and two chariots, she also stripped away decades of old paint to reveal the original color palette, hand gold leafed all the trims, added mirrors and jewels to the carousel. The carousel is housed in a $9 million accordion style pavilion by French architect Jean Nouvel. Janes carousel will open on September 16th and will cost $15 to ride, well worth it considering all the love put in to this project.
